Tyler Hobbs’ debut monograph is one of the first to focus on the work of a generative artist. Contextualising his art from 2018-23, Order/Disorder includes works from Hobbs’ solo exhibitions at Unit, London, and Pace, New York, in 2023.

Structured around the concept of dualities, the book explores Hobbs’ systematic approaches to art-making, the creative relationship between man and machine, computer-led aesthetics and the interplay of repetition and emergence across long-form generative projects.

A premium Collector’s edition includes a limited print of an Artist Proof and an NFC chip inserted into cover for registration on the blockchain. Find out more on Unit’s website here.

Book concept design for this major volume on Penny Siopis’ film works, Your History With Me, edited by Sarah Nuttall.

Over the course of two years I worked closely with Penny Siopis and Sophie Perryer (Stevenson) to develop the idea for the book, and created a print-ready 500-page book design.

The films run continuously on the left-hand pages throughout the book, including time stamps, and will play as a kind of flip-book. The dense essays are in black only, including their reference images, and run throughout on the right-hand pages.

Seen here are mock ups of my design – Duke University have published their own final version of the book, after an in-house redesign.

2023, book concept / 500 pages / Page size: 215 x 170mm / Soft cover with flaps
